Two young men are haunted by a deformed bull calf, and by their families’ trauma from World War II.
There’s a sadness to this story, and also a strangeness; it’s not entirely clear whether the “monster” is a ghost, or the actually deformed and mutilated calf they helped birth, or some manifestation of the boys’ unhappiness, and that indeterminacy is what makes the story so haunting.
