A woman who is fearful of traveling is overcome with dread and anxiety upon her first visit to the ocean.
Like most of the stories in this collection, this one balances mundane details against a larger, almost cosmic dread. There are mysteries that are hinted at but never revealed – most notably the protagonist’s father’s disappearance – which only makes the story that much more unsettling.
